If the community doesn’t support Art and Food events in the CBD such as these we simply won’t have them. A lot of love and effort goes into creating events such as these for our community. Be part of this fab evening in the Back Alley Gallery and sample some of Clayton Donovan’s delicious cooking plus conversation with Digby Moran – an Art and Food conversation. Canapes and champagne on arrival. More info
I missed the opening night. Have you seen these works?
The other side – Laurence Aberhart
20 July – 25 August 2013
“New Zealand photographer, Laurence Aberhart, is internationally renowned for his black and white prints of landscapes and interiors and overlooked details of small town life, all produced using a 100 year old wooden 8×10 inch view camera. The contact prints of these large format negatives are made without an enlarger in a basic chemical darkroom – providing the viewer with an image of exacting precision.”

Goodness! Two Biggest in one day: Australia’s Biggest Single Storytelling Session and the Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea at the Byron Bay Lighthouse – both this Wednesday 22nd May. Be at one or both – but above all, read your kid/s a story that night and every night after that…..
I don’t know if the title of this story should be most playful or indeed most cool, but check out these fab library designs from around the world and think about/write to Council asking why our local Goonellabah Branch looks set to close and the new Byron Library, 20 odd years in the waiting, kinda looks just like more books on shelves without the wow factor that these spaces create. Most Playful Libraries In The World
Friends of Lismore Regional Gallery have formed a small group called the Quad Squad, for the Lismore Quadrangle concept. It’s all about supporting the quest for a new gallery space in C Block, the old building behind the City Library an the Con of Music. Right now the Squad are gathering signatures from members of the community for the next application for Regional Funding. Last weekend we hit the Makers Market at the Conservatorium Of Music and had great success gathering over 80 signatures, 40 new Friends and pledges of financial support should the funding be successful! Look for us at the Magellan St and Carboot Markets soon and come and say hi. Or please visit the Gallery and give your signature there. And lastly, “Like” our Facebook page
Miss Peggy Popart is the ultimate art tour guide for kids and big kids at heart. We love her! Get to the Lismore Regional Art Gallery this every 2nd Saturday of the month from 10.30 – 11.30am for a kids’ overview of the current exhibition. It’s free and we love that. Auslan Interpreted. Support your local Regional Gallery and be inspired.
Article in Northern Star, promoting the possible rise of shop top apartment living in Lismore’s CBD – kinda makes it an urban village, a little New York City, a little Paris, a bit of a Sydney Potts Point?! OK maybe not yet, but more energy in the CBD generates more businesses and sense of commuity – night time eateries, bars and cafes. Look out Lismore, you’re gonna shine.
