Wow! people power rocks…..7000 people was the estimated number that hit the streets of Lismore last sunny Saturday. If you missed it check out the Northern Rivers Echo’s video on YouTube
You have probably seen Happy Flame Candles at the Magellan St Produce Market or the Lismore Carboot Market and if you haven’t yet you should seek them out. These beautiful to look at and beautiful to smell beeswax candles have pure cotton wicks and are handmade. No additives, no chemicals. Tea light candles, a range of small, medium and large shapes, designs and colours, plus a new range of floaters.
What a lovely way to while away an hour of dedicated knitting with like-minded souls @ Evoke.
New fortnightly Knitting Meditation Classes start next Tuesday May 1st, from 4.30-5.30pm. Knit a simple garter stitch scarf and if you don’t know how come along anyway and no doubt you get some help! Evoke Designer Yarn And Fabric is in Carrington St, between Noahs Arc and Caddies Coffee and I love it. They are also part of the the Lismore Yarn Guerillas.
Way back when in the days of Uni I worked as a volunteer at the Lismore Regional Art Gallery (LRAG). Unfortunately today almost 20 years later nothing has changed about the building! Nothing, except a paint job inside and a lovely new Cafe outside. I love the Gallery, even though it is small….. I think it is charming. However, it has it’s obvious limitations:
> the gallery space is not above flood level
> the walls are cracking and there is mould
> the staff kitchen upstairs has a toilet closely attached and has no hot water
> admin offices and the small display room are only accessible by the old narrow wooden staircase
> it is difficult to stage major events that will draw lots of people as there is not enough space to stand!
If you have enjoyed the Gallery, wish to contribute to the development of a bigger space, or just wish to support the Arts in Lismore then consider joining the Friends Of The Gallery. Be a part of organising events and play a crucial role in the future of our regional gallery. Annual Fee from $10. Ask at the Gallery for further information.

Got the tent, sleeping mats and butane cylinders (Ok, I haven’t taken the plunge and bought the u-beaut gas camp stove yet) and a coffee mug. Remy (daughter) and I, our first tent! Thanks to the help of John at Aussie Digger Camping (38 Bridge St North Lismore) for his advice and lovely service. Drove past so many times not thinking there was much to this place but once you alight the stairs you will find a treasure trove of all things camping, outdoors, hiking and so on.
Favourite Tent Spots
1. Hastings Point Holiday Park, 60 mins exactly from Lismore. Across the road from the creek inlet and ocean, short walk to headland lookout and the best thing of all, a corner shop that sells old fashioned hamburgers and coca cola slushies.
2. Rummery Creek in Nightcap National Park
Where do you go?
